Alufluoride
ALUFLUORIDE · Chemicals > Chemicals

Alufluoride started a project in 1993 for producing Aluminium Fluoride. The project was completed in record time at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Trial runs commenced in November 1994 and production of high quality commenced during December 1994. Supplies started immediately thereafter to primary aluminium smelters. The company increased production year after year at high quality standards. The company has an installed annual production capacity of 6000 tons of Aluminium Fluoride and plans to expand further. Alufluoride is the only company in Andhra Pradesh, producing Aluminium Fluoride (ALF3) with the modern Fluosilicic Acid technology developed by Alusuisse, Switzerland.

The company has a long-term contract for supply of Acid with their adjacent Fertilizer Complex, which produces phosphoric acid. During the Phosphoric Acid production, effluent fluorine gases evolve and they are scrubbed with water to generate Hydrofluosilicic acid. AL takes this acid and reacts it with Aluminium Hydroxide, to produce AlF3, thus producing wealth from waste. This technology is considered an import substitution as this does not require imported raw materials and provides high purity aluminium fluoride. In advanced countries, this technology is well encouraged, as this helps in conserving critical natural resources like fluorspar and sulphur, which are used in the Hydrofluoric acid route technology.

The company has been honored with the 'Best Efforts in Environmental Improvement' award among Industries in the State, from the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 1994-95 and also bagged 'Certificate of Merit for Exports' from Chemexcil for the year 2000-01.

It enjoys an excellent reputation among its clients and is unable to meet the demand for AlF3, as it maintains global quality standards at all times. If there were additional raw material supplies, AL would be able to significantly enjoy an even larger market presence. AL continues to tirelessly explore new sources towards this end.

The company makes continuous efforts to conserve energy at various levels of operations, to save power, fuel oil and cost. These efforts have resulted in significant reduction in energy consumption. Power and Furnace oil consumption have reduced from 466 KWH and 354 Kilos per ton of AlF3 in 2007 to 443 and 330 this year, a reduction of 5% and 7% respectively.

Recognizing the export performance of the company, the 'Outstanding Export Performance Silver Rolling Trophy - Instituted by Surana Group of Industries, Secunderabad' for the year 2006-2007, has been awarded to the company.
