Banswara Syntex was incorporated in 1976 as a joint-sector company with RIICO, a Government of Rajasthan undertaking, and R. L. Toshniwal. R. L. Toshniwal laid the foundation for the company and set up a spinning mill in the rural bamboo forest town of Banswara, Rajasthan. Since then, the company has grown into a vertically integrated textile company specializing in the production of yarn, fabric, and readymade garments. Currently, it is one of the largest single-mill setups of fibre-dyed yarn in Asia.
Over the years, the company has forayed into markets in many countries, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Spain, Germany, Japan, France, UAE, and Turkey. It has won several awards, including the SRTEPC Award for eight consecutive years.
Product innovation has been an integral part of its work culture. The company has diversified offerings in textiles and technical fabrics. Due to its varied and highly specialized product range, it is able to service several highly reputed fast-fashion brands such as Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Marks & Spencer, and Next.
The company operates its own thermal power plant, which generates captive power for the mill. For its next step, it intends to transition toward solar energy. With a shift toward Industry 4.0, the company is gradually integrating automation, software, and cutting-edge technology into its factories.
The company is a public limited company and a government-recognized Four-Star Export House, holding IS/ISO 9001:2008 and IS/ISO 14001:2004 certifications from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
