Founded in 1935 by Jaidayal Dalmia; the cement division of Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited (DCBL) was established in 1939 and enjoys a heritage of 70 years of expertise and experience. The company is headquartered in New Delhi with cement, sugar, travel agency, magnesite, refractory and electronic operations spread across the country.
The Dalmia Bharat Group had established four cement plants in pre-independence years, two of which were affected by the partition and Independence. The two remaining plants operate as Dalmia Cement and we have an associate company which is Orissa Cement Limited (OCL). Managed by a professional team, we have sustained the path to innovation and growth for seven decades.
Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited prides itself on having been at the forefront of pioneering and introducing many new technologies, which exist today, which are followed by others in the industry. Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited has been and continues to be an industry leader in the niche market segments. Its cement plants are in southern states of Tamil Nadu (Dalmiapuram & Ariyalur) and Andhra Pradesh (Kadapa), with a capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum.

A leader in cement manufacturing since 1939, DCBL is a multi spectrum Cement player with double digit market share and a pioneer in super specialty cements used for Oil wells, Railway sleepers and Air strips. It also hold a stake of 45.4 % in OCL India Ltd., a major cement Player in the Eastern Region. It has acquired the brands Adhunik Cement & Calcom Cement in the North East and the group now controls an expandable cement capacity of 21.8 million tonnes including the new project incubated at Belgaum in Karnataka.

2016- Dalmia Bharat announced the amalgamation of OCL India Limited and Dalmia Cement East Limited 'Bokaro' with Odisha Cement Limited (shall be renamed as OCL India Limited), amalgamation of Adhunik Cement with Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL) and transfer of power assets in Dalmia Cement Bharat Power Ventures Limited to DCBL.

2012- Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd. (DBSIL) acquire sugar manufacturing plant in Kolhapur with cane crushing capacity of 2500 TCD.
2008- DCBL increases the number of cement plants from one to three and the capacity from 4 MTPA to 9 MTPA by adding two greenfield plants (one more in Tamil Nadu and the other at Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh).
2005- Two greenfield sugar plants are established in Uttar Pradesh at Jawaharpur and Nigohi.
Capacity increases to 22,500 tonnes crushed per day (TCD).
2004- Dalmia Cement sets up its first 27 MW captive power plant at Dalmiapuram.
2000- DCBL introduces Dalmia Vajram Cement.
1998- Jobsahead.com, Renaissance Group and Infinity Investment Fund are established.
1995- New generation monolithic refractory products like castables, precast blocks and lance pipes are successfully introduced in OCL.
Utkal Investments Ltd, Konark Minerals Ltd, Kashmissa Industries Ltd and Hari Fertilisers Ltd become wholly-owned subsidiaries of the company.
1993- Dalmia Bharat Group sets up its first wind farm.
The company also gets IS/ISO 9002 certification.
1990- Electronic Division of DCBL becomes operational in Bangalore making new models of Hi-Fi Amplifier cassette music systems. Colour TVs based on ET&T design are also produced in small quantities.
