Eastern Mining and Allied Industries (EML), formerly known as Lotus Trading Company, was originally incorporated on January 25, 1985. EML went public in September 1994. The company decided to change its name to Eastern Industries on August 12, 1995 and is presently known as Eastern Mining and Allied Industries.

EML is mainly in the business of mining, processing and sale of coal in the domestic and international markets. The company has been exporting to Bangladesh and efforts are now on to export to Nepal. Due to the increase in demand from Bangladesh, it is acquiring new mines.

The company is delisted from the BSE due to penal reasons.
