Jayshree Chemicals, incorporated in the year 1962, produces caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydrosulphite, sulphur dioxide and sulphuric acid. The company’s plant is located at Ganjam in Orissa. The activities of the company mainly include manufacturing of caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydrosulphite, sulphur dioxide and sulphuric acid.
The sodium hydrosulphite plant had been shut down owing to poor market conditions. The company has become sick owing to continuing losses and a reference was made to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) during the 1990s. A rehabilitation scheme was implemented and the company was removed from the sick list by BIFR on its net worth becoming positive again.
For the last three years, the company has achieved continuing increase in turnover and profits.
Future plans:
Jayshree Chemicals is planning to expand the capacity of caustic chlorine production in two phases. The project involves increasing the capacity of caustic chlorine from 70 tpa to 170 tpa in the first phase and to 220 tpa in the second phase. The first phase involves an investment of Rs.1,200 million was completed by March 2008. The second phase will be completed by 2012.
