Kallam Spinning Mills was incorporated as a public limited company on February 18, 1992 in the name of Kallam Agros. The name has subsequently been changed to Kallam Spinning Mills, with effect from September 22, 1994. The company is promoted by Shri Kallam Haranadha Reddy and associates who have experience in cotton related business i.e., ginning, pressing, oil extraction, etc.
The promoters are indirectly involved in spinning activities, through Chandrashekhara Ginning Mills, Shri Venkateshwara General Commission Merchants and Shri Venkataramana Commission Merchants, of their customers by supplying quality cotton to many leading spinning mills like Super Spinning Mills Limited, Precot Mills Limited and GTN Textiles in South India. Taking advantage of their rich experience in cotton industry, the promoters are now setting up a spinning mill to cater to the growing cotton yarn market.
Business areas of the company:
The company manufactures cotton yarn mainly for the export market. The manufacturing units are located at Guntur and Khammam, both in Andhra Pradesh. A major expansion plan was implemented with the addition of 16,560 spindles out of the planned 22,080 spindles, taking the total to 41,376 as on March 31, 2007. A hydro power plant has been established to supply electricity to its spinning division. Modernizing the unit, the company replaced the existing spinning machinery with two ring frames and auto caner machinery. The company's principle activity is the manufacture and sale cotton yarn. It generates power by its hydro power plant, which is used for captive consumption by its spinning division.
