Marathwada Refractories was incorporated on November 2, 1979 at Mumbai. The main objective of the company is to manufacture magnesite ramming masses and refractory bricks.

The company entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Orissa Cement, for 7 years from 28th February, 1980, for providing necessary technical know-how to set up the company's plant and run it. The collaborators supplied the company complete engineering/technical know-how, specifications of plant and machinery, drawings/designs of the plant and technical assistance for the installation or erection of the plant and machinery.
