MV Electrosystems was incorporated as ‘MV Electrosystems Private Limited’ on July 03, 2009 at New Delhi as private limited company. Thereafter, the company was converted into a public limited company and the company’s name was changed to ‘MV Electrosystems Limited’ on November 26, 2021. The company is a technology-driven company engaged in the design, development, assembly and manufacturing of electrical & power electronics equipment used in railway rolling stock including IGBT based 3-Phase Drive Propulsion equipment for electric locomotives, switchgear panels for railway coaches & EMU’s, cable protection & management products and electrical components, systems & sub-systems. 

It operates within India’s rail infrastructure transition driven by mandated broad-gauge electrification, Make-in-India procurement requirements and the expansion of the network, including upcoming high-speed corridors. The company is focussed towards research, design & development of electrical equipment & power electronics systems for usage in railways industry and to play a strategic role as a domestic manufacturer with technical capabilities, indigenous designed and developed propulsion equipment and in-house assembling cum manufacturing facilities.

The ingenious in-house design & development of 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment for 6000 HP Locomotive is a key achievement of the company which will lead the way for creating various other energy efficient railway power conversion systems. Such developments require expertise in multiple domains including, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Design, Software Development, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Design & Instrumentation. With this in-house development and approval from CLW, the company has become one among the global players that possess proprietary technology for rail propulsion equipment.

History and milestones

  • 2018: Commencement of manufacturing operations for cable protection & interconnected products at Unit 1.
  • 2019-20: Received first purchase order for 11 (eleven) 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment from Diesel Loco Modernisation Works, Indian Railways for an aggregate value of Rs 184.58 million.
  • 2019-20: Commenced work on design and development of propulsion system as per the specifications of RDSO.
  • 2023-24: Supplied one set of 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment to CLW and installed and commissioned for service trials to be conducted by West Central Railways.
  • 2025-26: Commenced bulk supplies of Propulsion Equipment to Indian Railways against the outstanding executable Order Book.
  • 2025-26: Commenced process for shifting of the existing cable protection & interconnected products facility from Unit 1, where it is presently situated, Unit 2 and also installation of infrastructure and machinery for production of propulsion equipment at Unit 1 and Unit 2.
  • 2025-26: Entered into a Business Cooperation Agreement with PNC Technologies Co. Ltd., South Korea for a period of three years, to collaborate exclusively for the marketing, manufacturing, supply and distribution of Auto Fault Locator system for the Indian market and to fulfil the condition of minimum 51% Indian content under ‘Make in India’ policy and to participate in the tenders.
  • 2025-26: Received developmental order for IGBT based 3-Phase Drive Propulsion Equipment with Composite Converter for WAP-7 locomotives from CLW, Indian Railways for one such equipment for an aggregate value of Rs 25.11 million (excluding GST) and three years comprehensive annual maintenance contract for aggregate value of Rs 1.48 million (excluding GST).
  • 2025-26: Completed trial run of 50,000 km for the 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment supplied by the company to CLW, Indian Railways, and Received final inspection certificate (prototype clearance) for the 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment.
