- Ramasamy Raja Nagar unit of Ramco Cements was awarded the Energy Efficient Unit for the year 2014 by the Confederation of Indian Industry at the 15th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management.
2015:
- 'National Award for Best Improvement in Energy Performance in Manufacture of Blended Cements 2013-14' was awarded to the Alathiyur Unit of Ramco Cements by National Council for Cement and Building Materials.
2016:
- The Ramco Cements is the first company in Tamil Nadu to receive the highest rating for the mines. The Ariyalur unit's Pudupalayam was awarded ‘5 Star’ rating by Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in recognition for the efforts and initiatives taken to implement sustainable framework during the mining process.
- The Ramasamy Raja Nagar, Alathiyur and Ariyalur Units of Ramco Cements won the “National Award for Excellence in Energy Management - 2016” from the Confederation of Indian Industry.
2017:
- Ramco Cements received the Gold Award instituted by Greentech Foundation for outstanding achievement in Technology Excellence in HR.
- The Ramasamy Raja Nagar Unit of Ramco Cements was bestowed with the National Award for Excellence in Energy Management – 2017 by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

2018:
- Ariyalur Unit of Ramco Cements received the India Green Manufacturing Challenge – 2018 Gold Award, for implementing sustainable production and maintenance practices.

- Awarded Energy Conservation Award (ENCON) 2022, by Confederation of Indian Industry. This is the fourth time, the unit is receiving such an award.
- The Ramasamy Raja Nagar plant had been awarded as Energy efficient unit by CII at the 23rd National Award for excellence in Energy Management 2022.
- Ramco Cements was honoured for demonstrating leadership, creativity, and innovation in products, processes, and marketing practices. This award was presented in the first edition of e4m (Exchange for Media) Pride of India - South conference.
- Alathiyur and Ariyalur Plants were awarded ‘Platinum Awards’ in Cement Sector under Apex India Occupational Health & Safety Award 2022 by Apex India Foundation. Ariyalur plant, is receiving this award for the fourth time.

- The Company's windfarms situated at Muppandal, Thandayarkulam, Radhapuram, Uthumalai, Poolavadi, Udumalpet, Periyapatti and Pushpathur in Tamil Nadu and GIM II Hills and Vani Vilas Sagar in Karnataka, were adjudged as the ‘Best Performing Windfarms’ by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
- Melvenkatesapuram limestone mine (RR Nagar unit) has been awarded the 5-Star Mine by the India Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Mines, Government of India on March 1, 2023.
2024:
- The Ramco Cements Limited, Jaggayyapet plant near Vijaywada has bagged ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ award in the 25th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2024.
2025:
- The company has been awarded ‘Best Primary Education Initiative of the Year’ for its CSR initiatives in the file of education at The Indian CSR Awards 2025, organized by Brand Honchos.
Milestones
- 1961: The birth of The Ramco Cements Limited.
- 1962: The first plant of RCL at Ramasamy Raja Nagar, near Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, commenced its production with a capacity of 200 tonnes, using wet process.
- 1970: The plant switched over to more efficient dry process. A second kiln was also added to bring the total capacity to 15 lakh tons per annum.
- 1987: The second venture of RCL is its Jayanthipuram plant near Vijayawada in A.P., was set u. The 36.50 lakh ton per annum plant employs the latest state-of-the-art technology.
- 1993: The company sets up the Ramco Windfarm in 1993 at Muppandal in TN.
- 1995: The company sets up the wind farms in Poolavadi near Coimbatore.
- 1997: The third venture of the company is at Alathiyur in TN, was set up
- 1999: The company commissioned the most sophisticated Ready Mix Concrete Plant in Medavakkam in South Chennai.
- 2000: RCL acquired Gokul Cements situated in Mathod in Karnataka whose capacity is 2.90 lakh tons per annum.
- 2001: Alathiyur plant expanded by addition of another line. The 30.50 lakh tons per annum plant is the most modern plant in the country.
- 2002: A state-of-art Dry Mortar plant was commissioned near Sriperumpudur, Tamilnadu which manufactures dry mortar, cement based putty and tile fix compound.
- 2005: The company sets up the wind farms in Oothumalai.
- 2005: The company sets up the wind farms in Mathod.
- 2009: Ariyalur plant started operations in 2009 with a capacity of 2 MTPA. It is well-equipped with modern quality control systems.
- 2012: The Line 2 of the plant with a capacity of another 2 MTPA was commissioned.
- 2013: Madras Cements shall be changed to The Ramco Cements Ltd. and the trading symbol of the Company be changed from MADRASCEM to RAMCOCEM.
