Tamilnadu Telecommunications (TTL) incorporated in 1988, as joint venture of Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), a PSU fully owned by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, and Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), under the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Fujikura Limited of Japan also joined the company as the third promoter in 1998.
TTL embarked upon diversification of its product range, with the manufacture of the state-of-the-art optical fibre cables, in technical collaboration with Fujikura of Japan.
TTL set up a factory in Arakkonam for manufacture of Polythene Insulated Jelly Filled (PIJF), Foam Skin Insulated Copper Telecom Cables in technical collaboration with Essex Group Inc of USA.
The optical fibre cable plant is located in CMDA Industrial Estate, Maraimalai Nagar in Chennai. This sophisticated cable plant is set up with complete range of machinery lines imported from Nextrom Technologies (Nokia) of Finland. This OFC factory has won the IS/ISO 9001 certification from Bureau of Indian Standards.
The company is one of the largest manufacturers of optical fibre cables in India with an installed capacity of about 17,136 km per annum (1428 Km per month) with latest state-of-the-art machineries and equipments.
The company’s infrastructure is approved by Department of Telecom, Indian Railways as well as by other private basic telephone service providers like Reliance, Tata, PGCIL, etc. Apart from this, the company is an approved supplier for Saudi Telecom, Nepal Telecom, Zimbabwe Telecom etc.
It also operates full facility for testing of fibre at the inward inspection stage as well as at various process stages and the product meets the Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), Department of Telecom Specification.
