Vijaya Bank was incorporated in October 1931 in Mangalore, Karnataka. It was founded by late Shri A.B.Shetty and other enterprising farmers with an intention to promote banking habits among farming community in the Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka State. Vijaya Bank became a scheduled bank in 1958. During the year 1963-68 is grew into all India bank by merger of nine smaller banks into Vijaya Bank. It got nationalised in year 1980.
