Zee News operates news, current affairs and entertainment channels. Incorporated in 1999, it was a part of Zee Telefilms but later on 31 March, 2006 in pursuance of scheme of arrangement approved by Bombay High Court it was de-merged. After de-merger, the company became an independent entity.
The company operates a range of regional channels namely Zee Marathi, Zee Bangla, Zee Punjabi, Zee Gujarati, Zee Telugu, Zee Kannada.
Under news segment, ZNL runs channels like Zee News, Zee Business, Zee 24 Taas, the first 24-hour Marathi news channel and 24 Ghanta, a 24 hour Bangla news channel. 24 Ghanta is operated by ZNL’s subsidiary company namely Zee Akaash News.
Zee News supplies content to the international broadcasting business of Zee that is located in USA, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Zee News has employee strength of 1000 people.
Incepted in 1992, Zee News is the oldest channel from the portfolio of channels operated by company. In 1999, Zee News became 24-hour Hindi current affairs and news channel in the country that led in creation of history.
Zee Business is the India’s first Hindi business channel catering business news to mass Hindi audience.
The Company has an arrangement with Zee Turner to distribute its pay channels bouquet on DTH platforms in India and neighbouring countries.
Zee News also has an arrangement with Dish TV India for up-linking of its channels through their teleport.
The company showcases programming assets namely Badi Khabar, The Inside Story, Share Bazaar Live, Aaj ki Badi Khabar, Wheelocity, SA RE GA MA PA, Asambhav, Phulkari, Aata are among others.
In 2009 De-merger of Regional Entertaiment Channels from Zee News Ltd occured.
