Southern Latex was incorporated as a private limited company on March 29, 1989 and got converted into a public limited company in September 1993. It came out with a public issue on September 19, 1994. The registered office of the company is located at Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.

The company has been accumulating losses and a reference was made to the board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR), which declared it a sick industrial unit. A draft rehabilitation scheme is awaited.
